MAPUSA: Mapusa police arrested five persons on charges of attempt to murder of one Ashwin Alemao.

Those arrested are Hensel Dias, Jovito Coutinho both residents of Quitla in Aldona, Valencio Feria and Anderson D’Souza both residents of Pomburpa and Salik Bepari, resident of Aldona.
Police informed that the brother of the deceased person Alvin Alemao had lodged a complaint stating that his brother was assaulted by the five accused on Saturday late night at around 1.30 am near a sluice gate.
The victim and the accused had gone together and there was argument between the victim and accused reportedly over alcohol. Following which the victim was assaulted.
After the assault, the victim was shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim and was undergoing treatment. However, Ashwin succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.
Mapusa police had earlier registered offence under Section 307 and 341 of Indian Penal Code. Police now added Section 302 of Indian Penal Code against all five accused who are now in police custody.
