MARGAO: Margao Salcete Truck Association President Franky Gomes has demanded that all truck owners be permitted to transport ore as and when mining operations resumes. He threatened to move the courts if there is discrimination against any truck owner.
Briefing media persons, he pointed out that mine owners use only those trucks that belong to the local people where mining operations are carried out and trucks from elsewhere like Salcete are not allowed to transport ore.
“No truck owner is starving and all are managing their business at present, hence I demand that all trucks be used to transport ore or the mining operations should not resume,” he said adding that all the mines should start operating and not a few as was done earlier.
He said the government should ensure that all truck owners are permitted to operate in the mining area.
