Sada is venue of nine jailbreaks since 2000

VASCO, AUG 4
The Sada Sub-Jail at Vasco seems to have become a favourite venue for a jailbreak, given that there have been nine jailbreaks in the last one decade.
In 2000, two jailbreak incidents were reported, where an undertrial, D Justin, escaped and was later arrested. In the same year, another undertrial, Mohammed Shab, managed to escape, but could not make too far, as he was eventually arrested in Karnataka.
Two years later, three undertrials, Palani Swami, Arjun Dhakne and Kanakraj Nagappa, escaped from the jail by drilling a hole in the cell toilet. They have never been found since then.
In 2005, one undertrial, Hanumantha Talwar, jumped over the compound wall, prompting jail authorities to raise the height of the compound wall to prevent such incidents.
In 2006, the Sada Sub-jail witnessed three jailbreaks within less than 60 days. In the first incident, four prisoners escaped by breaking ventilators of the grill of the jail and by using the rope to come down.
In June 2006, one Branson Fernandes escaped by making a hole in the cell toilet, but he could not make it too far, as he was caught shortly. The very next month, an undertrial, Salim Shaikh, jumped over the jail wall.
In 2007, an undertrial, Raju Golar, was being taken to Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), when he came out of the main gate and escaped. He was later arrested near the MMC Garbage treatment plant at Headland Sada.
