PORVORIM: Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza has blamed senior government officials for the delay in implementing projects. He stated that the officers at the helm of affairs do not clear files promptly and that there was no accountability for them. He also called for severe punishment for senior officials who did not perform their duties diligently.
D’Souza was replying to a query on when the work of the new Mapusa Kadamba bus stand will begin. He further said, “MLAs are not supposed to run after the files. It is the duty of the senior officers to clear the files immediately once it reaches them. People should demand that the government lay down a time limit for senior officers to clear files.”
He also stated that there is no register for senior officers, and hence, they come to the office and leave whenever they want. He added that some senior officers are not interested in installing a punching machine in their department.
D’Souza informed that the proposal for a new bus stand at Mapusa is pending before the panning department. The first phase of work pertaining to levelling of fields is nearly completed, and once the planning department grants its approval for the project, the second phase will begin.
