PANJIM: The South Goa District Magistrate-cum-Adjudicating Officer imposed penalty of Rs 15,000 on Basavraj Mahalingaiah Dhapalapur of Bagalkot, Karnataka for selling sub-standard quality jaggery (chikky),by adding non-permitted synthetic food colours (Tartrazine, Sunset yellow and Carmoisine).
Penalty of Rs 10,000 was imposed collectively on Chainsingh Rathoreof M/s Jai Bhavani Sweets Centre, Kindlem Canacona and Ratan Singh Rathore of M/s Shree Rathore Sweet Mart and general store at Chaudi Canacona for selling sub-standard mix shev adding non permitted synthetic food colours (Tartrazine).
Similarly penalty of
Rs 20,000, Rs 5,000 was imposed on Prakash Manju Madival, M/s Udupi butter chakli alias Shree Ganesh product, Kodibhag, Karwar Kolage Karwar Uttara Kannada Karnataka, Mohanlal Choudhary, M/s Mohan Food products, Shantinagar-Aquem, Baixo, Salceteand Ambarish K Bhaskaran, vendor at M/s BKS Bakery Balli, Quepem respectively for selling sub-standard tomato chakli adding non-permitted synthetic food colours (Tartrazine).
Rajiv Korde, senior food safety officer and Sneha Gawade and Zenia Rosario, both food safety officers of Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) filed the above adjudication cases.
