Goa CM Pramod Sawant Announces Film Financing Scheme with Grants up to ₹50 Lakh

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday announced a new film financing scheme aimed at boosting Goa’s cinema industry by providing financial assistance to filmmakers.

Under the scheme, films will be categorized into three tiers, with funding support based on classification. A-category films will be eligible for grants up to ₹50 lakh, B-category films will receive up to ₹30 lakh, while C-category films will get assistance of ₹10 lakh.

The initiative is expected to encourage quality filmmaking in the state and support local talent by easing financial constraints. Sawant said the government is committed to strengthening Goa’s position as a vibrant hub for cinema and culture.

Officials added that the scheme will be implemented with clear guidelines to ensure transparency and that only deserving projects benefit from the grants.

The announcement comes at a time when Goa has been increasingly promoting itself as a film-friendly destination, hosting international festivals and offering scenic locations for shoots.
