CURCHOREM: Curchorem police arrested Vinod Vithoba Khutikar (40), a resident of Khutkarwada, Kalay, Sanguem, for assaulting and murdering Nikhil Kolu, a resident of the same locality and but a native of Jharkhand on late Thursday night.
Police said that the accused and the victim had a quarrel over some personal matters after coming out from a tavern.
According to the Curchorem police both of them might have had a discussion and may be in a fit of anger and under the influence of alcohol the accused assaulted the victim causing serious injuries on his body.
A resident from immediately called up the police and informed them about the fight outside the bar. By the time the police arrived at the scene, Khutikar was already dead and they had to conduct a post-mortem.
According to Curchorem PI Ravindra Desai, the accused Khutikar probably used a wooden danda to assault the victim.
“Police immediately reached at the site after getting information of the incident from a local resident. Later, the accused was arrested Under Section 302. The body of the victim (Nikhil Kolu) has been preserved at Goa Medical College, Babolim after conducting a post mortem,” Desai said.
PSI Prashal Naik Desai, assisted by PSI Veronica Coutinho, are conducting the investigation under the supervision of PI Ravindra Desai.
It is likely that police will now inform the relatives of Khutikar of the murder once they conduct the investigation and the cause of their fight.
It is not yet learnt why the two had a discussion after coming out of the bar in an intoxicated state.
