Ponda:Two families in Ponda escaped injuries as two trees collapsed on houses at Marcaim and Borim. Both families were asleep and were shocked as they heard the trees collapsed on the houses breaking the roof, tiles and the rafter. In Marcaim the local Sarpanch visited the site while in Borim Shiroda MLA Subash Shirodkar and Borim Sarpanch inspected the site and promised to provide relief from the panchayat.
At midnight in Marcaim a huge coconut tree located infront of house collapsed on the centre portion of a house owned by Sandesh Naik residing at Dutlewada Marcaim resulting in a loss of around one lakh. The Marcaim Sarpanch Deepa Naik , Panchmember Vasu Naik and Suresh Naik inspected the broken house and promised to provide relief of five thousand. The Ponda Fire Personnel cleared the coconut tree.
Another tree collapsed at Paniwada Borim in a dense locality. A huge four hundred year old Sacred Pimple Tree collapsed on the house of Seeta Tulshidas Gaude who was sleeping along with her two sons resulting a loss to the tune of several lacs. The fire service estimated it at six lakhs. She was injured in the incident and shifted to SubDistrict Hospital and discharged later said Ponda Fire Station Officer Sushil Morajkar.According to locals the tree is a sacred place of locals to worship Godess Palkhim who visits once a year.
