The mob took law into their lands and went to the extent of assaulting the driver.
According to available information, there was a collision between truck and car at Curti.
It is learnt that the car was proceeding towards Usgao from Ponda, while the truck driver accidentally dashed against the car. Following this, the two parties settled the issue amicably as the car proceeded to Usgao.
However, at this juncture, the mob went berserk, later in a fit of rage, tied the truck driver to his vehicle and mercilessly assaulted him.
The members of the Truck Transport Association later filed a complaint with the Ponda Police.
DySP Shivram Vaigankar assured that action will be initiated in the matter.
“No one can take law in their hands. If there is any issue, then the matter has to be reported to the police,” Vaigankar said.
