A special bus will leave at 7.30 am from Maruti temple, Mapusa. Participants will have to trek a distance of 5 km to reach the waterfall.
They will get to enjoy a walk through the Mhadei wildlife sanctuary and see the breathtaking greenery of the Western Ghats, small waterfalls, river crossing and different species of birds.

Apollo gets new CT scanner
PANJIM: Apollo Victor Hospitals has added to its diagnostic capabilities with the addition of the new 16 Slice SOMATOM Emotion CT-scanner to cater to regions of Goa, South Maharashtra and North Karnataka.
This CT scanner was inaugurated and blessed by Fr Ajit Rodrigues in the presence of Dr Paresh Desai, Dr Nisha Alvares, Dr Franzil Miranda and senior management of Apollo Victor Hospitals.

Uninor reports revenue growth of 46%
PANJIM: Uninor continued to demonstrate strong business growth, adding over 2 million subscriptions over the last quarter. As a part of its second quarter results presentation in Oslo, Telenor Group reported a 46% improvement in revenues for Uninor together with a significant reduction in EBITDA loss compared to the same quarter last year. EBITDA improved from second quarter last year by 26%. This year Uninor has made significant investments in network expansion across the six circles. Compared to same quarter last year, Uninor improved its subscriber base by 33% and ARPU by 11% to reach INR 108.

Goa Tourism bags award at IITM
PANJIM: Goa Tourism has bagged the ‘Best Wedding Destination’ award at India International Travel Mart (IITM), held in Bangalore from July 18-20, 2014. The award was received by Satira Dias (Information Assistant, Department of Tourism) at the hands of Sanjay Hakhu Director, Sphere Media Pvt Ltd, organizers of IITM Bangalore 2014.
The three-day exhibition brought together several players from the travel industry such as state tourism boards, national tourism organizations (NTOs), hotels and resorts, tour operators and travel agents face-to-face with buyers from the industry.This year, more than 670 trade visitors and over 11,200 members of the general public visited the event on all three days. There were large delegations of travel partners and tour operators from more than 10 countries at the show such as Bhutan, Dubai, Egypt, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Oman, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand and the UK.
Karnataka worker dies in tree crash
ALDONA: A 30-year-old worker from Khanapur-Karnataka died when a tree came crashing down on him at Carona-Aldona on Monday morning.
According to Mapusa police, a landlord from Carona had hired workers to cut a big tree next to his house. However, the partially chopped tree fell on another tree and was lying in a precarious manner.
As one labourer, Ganesh Gawade, went near the tree to see how to pull it down, the tree fell on him. Gawade died on the spot.
Police rushed to the site and after conducting the panchanama sent the body to Goa Medical College at Bambolim for post-mortem. The deceased is survived by his mother, wife and three children.
Mumbai residents assaulted, robbed
CALANGUTE: A native of Mumbai and his friends were assaulted by robbers, who stole among other valuables their mobile phones, gold chain and wrist watch, worth about Rs 2.75 lakh, at Arradi-Parra.
According to Calangute police, Rahul Sahani of Mumbai complained that the incident occurred on Saturday at about 9 pm when two persons on the pretext of taking him and his friends to a disco at Calangute took them to an isolated place at Arradi-Parra.
The complainant further stated that five unidentified persons joined them and assaulted him and his friends, before taking away their valuables. PSI N Halarnkar is investigating the case.
Borim resident cheated
PONDA: A resident of Borim-Ponda was cheated to the tune of Rs 3.50 lakh.
According to Ponda police, Devendra Gaude of Borim complained that between July 4 and 26; two accused persons gave an advertisement on an online classified site towards the sale of their car (GA-03-P-7515).
When the complainant contacted the duo, they insisted and took Rs 3.50 lakh from Gaude. The duo failed to transfer the vehicle in Gaude’s name, thereby cheating the complainant. Head Constable J Gaude is investigating the case.
Non-bailable warrant issued
MARGAO: Margao Judicial Magistrate First Class, C Gawas on Monday issued a non-bailable warrant against the three accused Yogesh Parab, father Atmaram and mother Amitha in the Vedashri Parab suicide case.
Earlier on Sunday, the Margao police had issued look out notice against the three accused, two days after the South Goa Sessions Court rejected the anticipatory bail applications of the trio
Margao PI Sudesh Naik informed that on Sunday police had raided various suspected places, including a remote place at Antanem-Bicholim to arrest the accused.
After the police could not lay their hands on the trio, the police is said to have approached the court for issuing non-bailable warrant under the CrPC. He further informed that police personnel are posted at Fatorda and Gogol where their family members reside to arrest the accused if they happen to come.
Man found dead in Margao
MARGAO: A dead body of one unknown male person age about 45-50 years was found lying at Holy Spirit Church-Margao.
The body was brought to Hospicio, Margao in 108 ambulance. The deceased wore black and white striped shirt and black pant.
The body has been preserved at TB Hospital morgue-Margao for identification.
A case of unnatural death under Section 174 of CrPC has been registered. PSI Girendra Naik is investigating.
Velim teen dies in Loutolim mishap
MARGAO: In a tragic accident on Sunday, 19-year-old Manish L Sawant of Zaino-Velim lost his life while performing stunt on his two-wheeler (GA-08-W-7585) along the Verna IDC road at Loutolim.
Maina Curtorim police sources informed that Sawant was performing stunts along with 19-year-old Pravin V Veremkar of Dandewado-Chinchinim who was riding Pulsor motorbike (GA-08-W-9397).
The deceased Sawant who was behind Veremker suddenly lost control and fell off the two-wheeler and died on the spot after sustaining grievous head injuries.
Veremker, who on hearing the sound, tried to look behind and fell from his bike sustaining minor head injuries.
A case of rash and negligent driving is registered and further investigation is in progress.
Murder: Curtorim resident denied bail
MARGAO: South Goa District and Sessions Judge Nutan Sardessai rejected bail application moved by murder accused Pritesh Indrajit Prasad of Camarshet-Curtorim. Public Prosecutor Subash Dessai said that the accused was roaming with knife in public places and if released on bail he would flee from justice.
Representing the accused, Adv Rajiv Gomes argued that the matter is at fag end and all material witnesses are examined and hence prayed that the accused be released on bail.
Accused Prasad stabbed Manjit Fernandes of Banda-Assolna with knife on February 21, 2012 at 10.30 pm at Govloy-Nuvem.
Buffaloes mysteriously found dead
PONDA: About four buffaloes were mysteriously found dead at Bhutkhamb plateau at Savoi Verem, Ponda, on Monday. Some locals noticed the carcasses in a pond, some 3 kms away from a road at Bhutkhamb.
