One held for possessing fake notes

Vasco police on Saturday night arrested a 22-year-old man from Malda-West Bengal on charges of possessing 144 counterfeit notes in denominations of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500, valued at Rs 1.22 lakh.
According to Vasco police, accused Ashraful Haq was arrested after police received information from a shopkeeper in Vasco that the accused transacted with him with the fake currency.
Vasco police rushed to the site and arrested Haq and recovered 100 counterfeit notes of Rs 1,000 and 44 counterfeit notes of Rs 500, valued at Rs 1.22 lakh.
Haq was arrested under Sections 489B and 489C of IPC and was sent to 12 days police custody.
It may be recalled that this is the second such incident involving a person from Malda-WB, as about two years ago Vasco police had arrested a youth from Malda and had recovered counterfeit notes worth Rs 1.50 lakh.
