PERNEM: Pernem police on Sunday morning arrested an Irish tourist on charges of murdering a 35-year-old Turkish national at Madhlowado-Arambol in Pernem.
According to Pernem police, the accused tourist, Martin John, who was staying at Morjim, along with his friend, Sundra Erdemir, went to Madhlowado-Arambol, where they had a fight and John allegedly hit a guitar on Erdemir’s head on Saturday morning. The accused fled from the spot.Police further said that Erdemir sustained serious injuries to his head and was rushed to GMC Hospital in Bambolim for medical treatment, where he succumbed to injuries on Sunday at about 7 am.
Pernem Police Inspector Tushar Lotlikar and his staff at Arambol outpost succeeded in arresting the accused at Morjim on Sunday at about 4.30 am.
Police said that the accused and the deceased were friends and both were seen moving together at Morjim and Harmal beaches. The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
Pernem police arrested the accused under murder charges and PI Lotlikar is investigating the case.
