PANJIM: A day after the dramatic resignation of Jit Arolkar from the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) board, it is now confirmed that BJP will reward former Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte with the GTDC chairmanship.
Meanwhile, Subhash Shirodkar – who resigned from the Congress – is expected to take over as chairman of Economic Development Corporation.
Sources reveal that present incumbents, GTDC chairman Nilesh Cabral – who was inducted into the Cabinet and EDC chairman Siddharth Kuncoliencar – are expected to tender their resignations by Monday morning.
Last week, Sopte and Shirodkar had resigned from the Congress and joined BJP after a meeting with the BJP brass in New Delhi.
While Shirodkar was mum about his next role, Sopte had conveyed to his supporters that BJP will award him the GTDC chairmanship and a cabinet berth by next month.
