Three MLD plant to supply potable piped tap water to Collem, Mollem

PONDA: The residents of Collem and Mollem Village Panchayats are set to receive treated potable piped tap water as work on three MLD water treatment plant nears completion.

According to officials, at present, the residents receive filtered water pumped from the Dudhsagar river. To provide treated potable water to the people of both panchayat areas, the work on three MLD plant, which is currently underway near Malikeswar Devasthan, Collem, has reached its final stage, and will be completed and inaugurated by December this year.

They said, “The new project, estimated to cost Rs 25 crore, will be a boon to the people as it will not only provide them with treated potable water, but will also solve their water crisis they face during the summer when river water level dips. The project will comprise a treatment plant, three tanks and distribution lines of 150mm diameter at essential places.”
