The website selling tickets, insider. in, states that the parties start at 7 pm, stipulate that the duration is 10 hours and is at Echo in Vagator. Tickets start from Rs 2,999 onwards – prices are increasing as on December 3, 2024 they were starting

at Rs 1,999.

“My department has not given permission for any such event and I am not aware if they have received permission from elsewhere,” stated Kabir Shirgaonkar, Deputy Collector of North Goa. “Please forward me the details,” he requested.

A restaurant called Echo, situated on Survey no 206/1 and belonging to Comunidade of Anjuna, existed in Vagator. However, a unit called Vamos, which has been signalled by village noise pollution crusaders, now stands in its place.

“Except for the India Bike Week, the comunidade has not permitted any event till the end of the year, to anyone. If someone is advertising a party on our land, for sure it is illegal,” said Dominic Pereira, president of Anjuna Comunidade.

Apart from the name of renowned Indian DJ Nikhil Chinapa, the flyer indicates that Armando Ferreira from Goa will be amongst the many DJs lined up from December 28 till New Year.

There’s an interesting sidelight to this. The association of one Goan DJ in the poster of this music gig, has sparked off concerns, comments and questions.

“The name of Armando Ferreira as a DJ in the line-up, now explains to us why when we approached his father MLA Carlos Ferreira, he stopped attending our calls after at first having promised to help us,” recollects Antonio Moraes from Vagator who has been at the forefront in the battle against noise pollution.

“I feel hurt that the son of MLA Carlos Ferreira, who once promised to help us fight against noise pollution, is part of this group. I only hope, the father is not aware of what his son is doing. If he is, he should show his calibre by pulling him out or seeing that they stop at ten pm,” suggests Jenny Crasto, coordinator of the Vagator Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) church group called VAC (Vagator-Anjuna-Chapora).

“It is then, that we were convinced that only the High Court would help us. The motives of politicians have now started getting clear,” said Moraes

Apart from Circus X Namas‘cray, Hill Top has already started selling tickets for its Christmas and New Year bash.

“Hill top started playing music in the evening of December 31 and finished only in the morning on January 1 last year. Their music could be heard all over and yet the police did not react. For once, they (the police) made it clear that they were in the Hill Top party mood,” said Desmond D’Souza who has been on the receiving end of music blasting from the place.
