PANJIM: The KTC Drivers & Allied Employees’ Association (AITUC) has called upon the Kadamba Transport Corporation Management to immediately fill up of the vacant posts in the Corporation through departmental promotions from amongst the senior and eligible staff and stop direct recruitment to fill up these higher posts.
The KTCL workers and staff held a public demonstration cum dharna at ‘Kranti Circle’ Panjim city Thursday in a bid to highlight issues of the workers and staff.
Other demands raised by the Association are ~regularization of the services of the daily wage workers / badli workmen who are in KTCL for more than 6 to 7 years in the category of drivers, conductors, helper mechanics, helpers, electricians, etc., payment of VIth Pay arrears, implementation of extension of ACPS and MACPS, correct fixation of pay scales and grade pay, payment of DA arrears and disbursement of Golden Jubilee Bonus of Rs 5000 to KTCL employees. The protestors were also demanding the restoration of the PF contribution to 12%.
The other prominent office bearers and committee members of KTC Drivers & Allied Employees Association (AITUC) who participated in Thursday’s demonstrations are Comrades KD Naik, Sundar Jalmi, Shashikant Gaonkar, Chandrakant Chodankar, Atmaram Galas, Ashok Kolambkar, Kubera D Naik, Gilman Lobo, Surendra Singh Dhillon, Guni Naik, Sanjay Gaonkar, Nacimento Lobo, Sanjay Thali, Arjun Sawant, Dhananjay Naik, Joao Pires, Ramachandra Shetye and Dina Phadte.
Com Christopher Fonseca while addressing the demonstrators stated that since the advent of KTCL three decades ago, the travelling public from every nook and corner of Goa have been greatly benefited.
The Government, the KTCL Management as well as all concerned public and employees should stoutly defend this public sector undertaking from the vested interests who are out to malign, weaken and annihilate KTCL.
He further demanded that Government should counter this malicious propaganda and conspiracy of the vested interests and adequately protect, strengthen, and nurture the KTCL in the interest of lakhs of traveling public in Goa, particularly those living in remote villages and maintain KTCL as a premier and efficient leading public transport system in Goa.
