PANJIM: The cash-for-jobs scam has galvanised the Opposition in a way that has not been seen since the seat-sharing talks during the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.

This was evident from the jointly signed letter that six Opposition MLAs sent to the Prime Minister on Tuesday, demanding an independent inquiry into the scam under a high court judge.

The ruling BJP is firmly on the back foot, with the names of many party functionaries and their associates coming up in the investigation into the scam,

In this light, the solidifying of Opposition forces assumes greater significance.

Not only the Opposition, ruling party MLAs should also come together on an issue like this. I would expect every elected MLA – irrespective of their party affiliations – to stand up and sign a memorandum or write to the Prime Minister individually on this issue
