“By not finalizing the MoI policy, the government has kept the English medium primary schools at its mercy for grants. The recent statements are nothing but blackmail. The government is playing with the sentiments of the parents,” Congress spokesperson Pratima Coutinho told media persons.
Coutinho said that BJP’s claim that it never supported BBSM (Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch), is like backstabbing the mother tongue protagonists, who were at the forefront to ensure Congress was weeded out of power during the 2012 assembly election.
“BJP has backstabbed their own BBSM and RSS member. BJP lied and cheated the people of Goa only to come to power. Their lies now stand exposed on the crucial issue of MoI. This BJP-led coalition government is a sarkar of lies,” Coutinho said.
“People of Goa should now know, whom they should vote for during the 2017 Assembly elections,” she added.
The Congress leader said the party stand till date is clear that grants be given to all primary schools and that parents be given right to choose MoI for their children.
BJP and BBSM are currently in tug-of-war over the MoI, with each levelling allegations against the other.
