MAPUSA: DM’s PVS Sarojini Madhusudhan Kushe Higher Secondary School, Assagao, won the state championship in under-17 boys Nehru Hockey tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs as they defeated Holy Cross HS Bastora by 3-0 margin, at Peddem hockey turf, here, on Wednesday.
Vasant B, Deepak N and Kiran L scored for the winners.

Total 19 teams comprising of high school and higher secondary schools took part in this state level competition.
Assagao school is now qualified to represent Goa at Jawaharlal Nehru Hockey tournament to be held at Delhi in October-November.
For the prize distribution retired physical education teacher and National Hockey Player Anthony Lobo, retd deputy director of Directorate of sports Redento D’Souza, tournament cordinators Eliter Fernandes and Victor Albuquerque, Goan Hockey Vice President Karl De’Souza and State sports organiser Anant Sawal were present.
Techinal officials Inacio Fernandes, Aviraj Madgaonkar Gaurav Singh Raju Rathod, Anoushka Fernandes and Yukta Mahato assisted State sports organiser in conducting the tournament.
