VASCO: Riding on a fine strike by striker Melwyn Colaco, Panchwadi Sports Club, Shiroda were fortunate to put it across Penha de Franca Sports Club, Britona by a solitary goal in the inaugural match of 40th HQ-NRB Bandodkar memorial All-Goa inter-village football tournament at MPT ground, Baina, here, Saturday.
The teams went all-out in the first half but were unable to score.
However, in the seventh minute of the second session, Panchwadi broke the deadlock when Melwyn gave the finishing touches to an intelligent pass by Melisio Pereira.
Then onwards, Penha de Franca tried hard in search of the equalizer but their strikers lacked sharpness.
Melwyn of Panchwadi was declared man-of-the-match for his performance.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Vassu Nair, general manager, NRB Bandekar group.
