Speeding SUV Kills 23-Year-Old Pedestrian in Verna; Another Injured, Student Driver Under Investigation

A tragic road accident near the Monginis Unit in Verna claimed the life of a 23-year-old pedestrian, Anisha Satish Borkar, a resident of Quepem, and left another young woman injured on Saturday.

The incident occurred when a speeding SUV, reportedly driven by a student en route to PCC College for examinations, struck the two pedestrians. The second victim, identified as Akshata Naik from Karwar, sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

Following the accident, the student driver arrived at the Verna Police Station. Authorities have taken note of the incident, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading up to the fatal crash.
