RAIA: CAC Cansaulim edged past Sai Avtar, Anjuna, 9-8 via tie-breaker to enter the quarter-finals of 6th Martin Cup organised by Betalbatim Sports Club, at Betalbatim panchayat ground, on Friday.
Match started on the fast pace with Sai Avtar Anjuna making the moves through Umesh and Kunal in the 14th and 16th minute of the game which was foiled by CAC Cansaulim defence.

Later, Sai Avtar was successful after Benny Dias sent a long pass to Vinayak Mulgaokar, who made no mistake to hit the target in 20th minute of the game. At the half time, the score remained 1-0 in favour of Sai Avtar.
Changing over, Sai Avtar doubled the lead in the 35th minute through Benny. As the match progressed, CAC Cansaulim changed their plans and made two substitutions. They scored through Elvino Fernandes in 45th minute and Selwyn Soares converting a penalty kick in the 55th minute.
At the end of regulation time, both the teams were settled to a 2-2 draw. The In the resultant tie-breaker, Sai Avtar scored through Soma, Jesman, Vinayak, Benny, Kreepal and Dinesh while CAC Cansaulim netted through Samuel, Selwin, Alton, Elvino, Melwyn, Rio and Dextor.
Elvino Fernandes of CAC cansaulim was declared the man-of-the-match and the award was presented by Bernard Ferrao, former footballer of Betalbatim.
On Thursday, Betalbatim Sporting Club downed Goa Velha SC to book a place in the quarter-finals. Denzil Rogtao, Nazab Khan and Dixon Rogtao netted for Betalbatim SC, while Supuerya Kundaikar reduced the margin for Goa Velha SC.
