FATORDA: Shiroda Higher Secondary School, Shiroda will clash with Fr Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Verna in the final of the U-17 South District Subroto Mukherjee football tournament, organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, at Astroturf ground, Fatorda on Thursday.
In the first semi-finals, Shiroda HSS defeated OL of Perpetual Succour HS, Cortalim 5-1. Melchian Souza scored a brace while Sweetan Vaz, Sanket Shirodkar and Shreyash Kamat scored a goal each for Shiroda HSS. Lesley Xavier reduced the margin for OL of Perpetual Succour HS.
In the second semi-final, Fr Agnel HSS, Verna scored a hard fought 2-1 win over Guardian Angel HSS, Curchorem. Velroy Borges scored for Fr Agnel HSS in the 28th minute. Two minutes later Jeff Gaonkar doubled the lead. In the second session, Guardian Angel HSS played attacking football and scored a goal through Frazer Fernandes in the 60th minute.
