VELSAO/ PALE: Parish Youth Association, Consua blanked Rising Star SC 3-0 in the GFA Second Division League match, played at Velsao ground, on Thursday.
Rising Star started the match brightly and had the first shot at the rival goal in the third minute when striker Shelton Fernandes picked up the ball from Uday Naik before dribbling past couple of rival defenders, but the former’s shot hit the side netting.
In the 6th minute, Consua team had the chance to take the lead but Menino D’Sa shot wide after Frankie Monteiro brilliant pass sent his free at the goal.
Consua keeper Clifford Monetiro pulled out a stunning save when the custodian dived full length to deny Xavier Pacheco from the close range. The striker was fed brilliantly by Rising defender Vijay Lamani.
Consua Placino Fernandes dribbled past Rising Star defenders Aniker Amonkar and Vijay Lamasni and shot from the top of the box but the rival custodian Sidesh Parab was equal to the task in the 25th minute.
Consua drew the first blood at the half hour mark when Frankie Monteiro connected the ball to Menino D’Sa who kept his composure in front of the goal to give his side a deserved lead.
There after Menino missed two sitters in the 43rd and 45th minute.
Crossing ends, Consua doubled the lead in the 50th minute when Menino rounded off the keeper, making amends to his earlier miss and scored a brace.
Rising Star players were totally outplayed in all departments of play as their attacks were kept under check by the Consua team. Mabel Mesquita further inflated the lead for Consua in the 68th minute to make it 3-0.
Consua could have scored their fourth but Mabel failed to guide his shot at goal from the close range in the 79th minute.
