CANACONA: Incessant rains continued to lash Canacona uprooting 10 trees, some crashing down on residential houses.
Canacona being a coastal taluka, high velocity winds make a landfall at the inhabited areas close to the seashore uprooting trees or causing them snap in the middle.
The fire and emergency office at Mastimol, received 10 calls on Thursday, while most of the trees fell either on electric overhead power lines causing extensive damage to the electricity department or on roads blocking the vehicular traffic.
Power cuts at some villages affected normal life. As per the information provided by fire office trees falling on houses were reported at Muthal, Palolem and Partagal causing financial losses. However, due to timely attendance, properties worth lakhs of rupees were saved.
