MARGAO: The Education department is monitoring the impasse over admissions to Chowgule higher secondary school, even as the writ petition filed by the Chowgule Education Society challenging the government’s rejection of its request to close down the school is scheduled to come up for hearing on Tuesday in the High court.
While Chowgule College Principal Dr R V Gaonkar said the status quo over the admissions remained unchanged on Monday with the management sticking to the 76.17 cut off percentage, deputy Director of Education Ramkrishna Samant told Herald this evening that the education department is waiting for tomorrow’s hearing in the High Court to initiate action in the matter. “The Director of Education is also monitoring the admission issue in Chowgule. More students would have got admission had the cut off percentage been reduced by one or two per cent. Some decision will come by Tuesday,” Samant said.
Chowgule Principal said he is expecting some more students, who were eligible for admissions in the higher secondary school, to complete the admission formalities by Tuesday. “We will come to know the exact situation by Tuesday evening,” Gaonkar said.
