BICHOLIM: Claiming that this Lok Sabha election is about the country’s identity, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday asked the people to do away with the parties who are against the country and vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Fadnavis was addressing the public at an election rally held in Sanquelim.
Coming down heavily on Congress’s manifesto, Fadnavis said that it is against the country. “This is the election for the country’s identity and we should keep away those parties, which are anti-national and vote for Modi,” Fadnavis said.
Giving reasons for terming the Congress manifesto as anti-national, he said it stresses upon doing away with laws related to treason. “Congress wants to do away with laws related to treason, remove Section 124, lessen the army and their rights from Jammu & Kashmir and other such anti-national policies,” Fadnavis said.
He also praised the Modi-led government and claimed it has touched the life of every poor citizen. “There is lot of development taking place in Goa. Today, India is the fastest developing economy that has also surpassed China,” Fadnavis said. “How is (INC President) Rahul Gandhi going to solve the problem of poverty when Congress was not able to solve it for 55 years?” Fadnavis asked.
He said that Modi tried to solve the poverty issue through the ‘Jana Dhan Yojana’ scheme under which Rs 80,000 crore have gone to the poor.
“Swacha Bharat Yojana has given toilets to the poor,” Fadnavis said listing several success schemes. He called upon the public not to get carried away with false assurances of Congress. He also mocked Rahul Gandhi for his funny speeches and further called the Congress governments as weak and incompetent. “The Army always had the strength, but the past leadership had no strength,” Fadnavis quipped.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant urged voters to increase the voting for BJP in Sanquelim. Calling upon the people of the country to vote for Modi, he explained how it took the Modi-led-government only five years to change the face of the country.
