MAPUSA: The meeting of all-Goa taxi operators was held at Shree Bodgeshwar Temple, Mapusa, has strongly condemned Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar’s statement in the ongoing Legislative Assembly that they will provide green card for Pernem taxi drivers upon paying certain amount.
The taxi-men claimed this was unfair and injustice, as other operators get it for free. It will also give rise to divide and rule, they said and demanded that the government should stop it.
They also raised the issue of toll charged to them at the Mopa international airport. They also highlighted the issues of aligning all the taxi drivers in one app, and added that it will create dispute among them for getting the trips.
The taxi operators claimed that the app-based taxi service was not feasible in a small State like Goa and it was possible in metros. They recalled that during their meeting with Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, they had told him not to start app taxi aggregator as it will create a rift among the taxi operators. The same thing happened now, they rued.
