Dy Collector urged to stop party organised by club

MAPUSA:  The Nationalist Congress Party members headed by General Secretary Sanjay Barde on Thursday submitted a written representation to Deputy Collector Akshay Potekar demanding to stop the Friday night party that has been organised by Sunburn Beach Club, Ozran, which was sealed and later desealed by the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority.

Barde said, “The club was sealed because of the illegalities. Before the New Year eve, the club was desealed, for the owner to clear the perishable items. However, instead of closing the club after clearing the perishable items, the club was allowed to hold New Year parties. Now again the club has organised a party on Friday night even though the club premises is illegal.”

“If the government can allow such illegal clubs to hold parties then why the authorities are asking for undertaking to celebrate yearly ‘jatra’. We have asked the Deputy Collector to grant us permission to celebrate the Bodgeshwar Jatra but the Deputy collector is asking for written undertaking. If MHA guidelines do not support celebration and gathering for jatras then how can the government allow club parties,” Barde pointed out.

“We have requested to stop the party and if the party is not stopped then it will be clear that the BJP and all the government departments are hand in gloves with such hoteliers,” he claimed.

Barde also claimed that by Friday morning if the authorities do not take any action then NCP members along with the villagers will march into the club premises to stop the party.
