At half time, both the teams were held to a 2-2 draw. Saligao United made the first attempt at the goal with Jayesh Chopdekar sending a perfect pass for Dylan but the latter’s shot was well collected by Navelim keeper Cleton Gomes.
At the other end, Saligao United keeper Jason D’Mello let the ball slip out of his hands but before Alvito Colaco could cause any harm Edwin Colaco cleared the ball.
Navelim Villagers had the first look at the rival goal when Alvito after receiving the ball from Sandy Colaco shot past Saligao United keeper Jason.
In the next minute, Aldrich Coelho increased the lead for Navelim Villagers as he avoided an advancing rival keeper to send the ball in.
As the match progressed, Rovan Pereira handled the ball in the Navelim box. Referee spotted the dreaded spot and awarded a penalty which was converted by Dylan.
Just before the lemon break, Clyde Vales blasted the ball into the Navelim goal, a rebound from keeper Cleton for the equaliser.
Post resumption, the teams tried their best to find the match winner but in vain.
At the end of regulation time, the score remained the same.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Navelim converted through the efforts of Sandy, Anil, Aulon, Nevin, Cleton and Aldrich while for Saligao United Dylan, Trevor, Jayesh, Sachidan and Martinho netted.
