The night of Christmas in Goa was the chilliest for the year 2010, with temperature dropping down to 17.9 Degree Celsius.
The Indian Metrological Observatory Goa in-charge K V Singh said that the northerly winds dropped the temperature during the season. “However, the mercury will remain constant in January as the winds have started flowing easterly,” he said.
The year 2011 has started at a little warmer note with minimum temperature dropping to 21 degree Celsius on January 3.
“There may be drop in temperature sometimes as northern part of the country is facing extreme weather,” Singh said.
Goa had recorded minimum temperature on December 14, 1945 when mercury scored down to 14.1 Degree Celsius followed by 14.4 Degree Celsius on January 3, 1991. The third lowest temperature 15.2 Degree Celsius was recorded on February 9, 2008.
