Cyclone may cause rains in S Goa today

PANJIM: As tropical cyclone Vardah intensifies in Chennai, it is likely to impact Goa from Tuesday evening, and the State is expected to receive rains and see a change in temperature.

The Goa IMD Observatory has issued a five-day warning of possible rains and dry spells for the State. “The cyclone which hit Tamil Nadu today, will reach Karnataka by Tuesday. On Wednesday, the cyclone storm will reach South Goa. But the State will start seeing an impact from Tuesday,” ML Sahu, Goa in-charge, said.
He said the cyclone will pass through South Goa on December 14. “From Goa it will go through the Arabian Sea,” he added. 
The minimum temperature dropped to 17 Degrees Celsius, almost three degrees Celsius below normal, on Monday. However, IMD has predicted a rise to 20 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
