 Bicholim Mamlatdar felicitated

MAYEM: North Goa Collector Mihir Vardhan recently felicitated Bicholim Mamlatdar Gurudas Desai for his achievement in making certificates available to the general public online. Desai had played a major role to make available all types of certificates to the general public online in all 18 panchayats of Bicholim taluka. Desai took the assistance of Revatai Muzumdar from Goa Electronics under the guidance of North Goa Collector Vardhan. Due to the service, people can now avail of certificates without wasting time and money. So far, about 1,100 people from different villages in Bicholim taluka have benefited from this facility. Pleased with this achievement, Vardhan felicitated Desai for his involvement in this project.
School material distributed 
MAYEM: North Goa MP Shripad Naik distributed school material to the students of Progress High School, Sanquelim, on Saturday. School material like laptops and other project material were distributed to the students. Speaking on the occasion, Naik stated that so far he has been instrumental in providing 100 per cent benefit from the MPLAD fund to about 90 per cent schools from Goa and his efforts will be to cover all the remaining schools. MLA Dr Pramod Sawant also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, Dr Navnath Bhatikar welcomed the gathering, Gurudatt Sanzgiri briefed about the programme, Manasi Borkar and Mahima Kavlekar compered the function, while Prasad Pangam proposed the vote of thanks.
Sports camp held at Canacona
CANACONA: The 15-days residential coaching camp for students of Balram Residential School, Amone-Poinguinim, ended on Thursday with as many as 153 students of Balram Residential School participating. The camp was organised in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs and Sports Authority of Goa at Adarsh-gram, Amone-Poinguinim. The 153 students were trained by 15 coaches in different sports disciplines like football, cricket, athletics, kho-kho, kabaddi, chess, chuck ball, etc. They also received guidance by experts in diet, physiotherapy and yoga. During the camp, talks were conducted in personality development, career guidance, videos and slide shows of football world cups, athletics, cricket were shown, while for one-day, students were given beach fitness training at Galgibaga beach. Athletic coach P D Shashikumar complimented the students for exhibiting good talent and asked them to continue training. Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, who is the patron of Balram Educational Trust, informed that without any ground facilities, about 25 students from the school have already participated at national level in different disciplines, and while sports infrastructure is being developed at the new venue, the school is aiming for achievements at national level and beyond in sports fields. Shri Balram Residential School Headmistress Savita Tawadkar, welcomed, PE teacher Kesar Gaonkar read the report of the coaching camp.
Dramatists felicitated at Bicholim
MAYEM: Drama artiste and director Abhay Jog has lauded the efforts of Samraat Club of Bicholim for supporting the cause of drama artistes in the State. He was speaking after inaugurating Rangabhumi Diwas celebration of Samrrat Club of Bicholim at Siddhivinayak Temple, Bordem-Bicholim, on Saturday. Bicholim Samraat Club President Dattaram Shetye, Sanjeev Vernekar, Nishant Chanekar, Gurudas Korgaonkar and Devasthan member Devidas Jambhale were present. On the occasion, drama artistes Shankar Gaonkar, Krishnanath Fogeri, Prasad Naik and Nisha Valve were felicitated.
DNSPM profit touches 1.23 cr
PORVORIM: Dindayal Nagari Sahakari Pathsaunstha Maryadit  has earned a net profit of Rs 1.23 crore during the financial year 2012-13. Addressing media persons at Mapusa, Dindayal Nagari Sahakari Pathsaunstha Chairman Kanta Patnekar informed that their society was established at Bicholim on October 21, 1996, with 500 shareholders. “During the course of last 17 years, the number of shareholders has risen to 19,969 and the total reserves of the society on March 31, 2013, is Rs 6.17 crore, while the deposit has touched Rs 70.09 crore,” informed Patnekar.
“The NPA of the society is only 0.66 per cent, which indicates that recovery of loans is good. The financial base of the society is sound and we have been adjudged as one best cooperative society in Goa by the State government,” added Patnekar.
