QUEPEM, AUG 24
South Goa District Congress Sevadal Secretary Dattaram T Nayak has accused the Quepem Assistant Director of Transport of illegalities in the registration of his vehicle.
Addressing a press conference at Quepem, Nayak accused Assistant Director of Transport Ashok A Bhosle of committing illegalities while registering his Maruti Swift car (GA-09-D-1111).
Nayak, who is in possession of the certified copies of all the documents obtained under RTI which were furnished by Ashok Bhosle at the time of registering his vehicle, stated that the tax invoice and sale certificate issued by the auto company and the vehicle insurance certificate showed the residential address of Bhosle as Panjim, which is supported by a voter’s identity card copy.
“As per the MV Act, the vehicle should have been registered in Panjim, but Bhosle managed to register his vehicle in Quepem,” alleged Nayak.
“In Form 20 for registration of motor vehicle, Bhosle has given his Panjim residential address. All the papers submitted for registration were certified by an officer of Assistant Director of Transport Margao, while the Assistant Director of Transport Mapusa signed the registration papers,” stated Nayak.
“Subsequently, as per the directions of Quepem Assistant Director of Transport, the vehicle was registered at Quepem, which is in violation of Section 40 of Motor Vehicle Act,” said Nayak.
“As per the section, the vehicle has to be registered by a registering authority in whose jurisdiction the owner has the residence or place of business, where the vehicle is normally kept and not other place,” claimed Nayak.
Nayak claimed that the address given on the receipt issued for registration read as: “Ashok Bhosle, Quepem, Sanguem (PO), Sanguem, South Goa, Goa 403704.”
He questioned how authorities overlooked the crucial residential address, as Quepem can never be in Sanguem PO.
Nayak has appealed to authorities to take action against all those involved in the crime.
Meanwhile, Nayak has filed a complaint with Quepem Police on August 21 against Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector, Assistant Director of Transport and Assistant Director of Transport Bhosle.
In his complaint, Nayak alleged that Bhosle indulged in illegal transfer/registration of vehicles, thereby taking advantage of his position as assistant director of transport at the place of his posting and also in other talukas in the State.
When contacted, Quepem Police Inspector Sudesh Narvekar said his office has asked the Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector, Assistant Director of Transport and Assistant Director of Transport Bhosle to remain present before Quepem Police for investigation.
