PANJIM: The fourth edition of Aqua Goa Mega Fish Festival 2017-18, aimed at promoting fish culture and exhibiting various aqua products and seafood delicacies, will be held from December 7 to 10 in Panjim.
Union Fisheries Minister Radha Mohan Singh will be the special guest for the inaugural. Goa Governor Dr Mridula Sinha will inaugurate the event that will be held at SAG Grounds, Campal.
Addressing media persons, State Fisheries Minister Vinod Palyekar said the government initiated the festival to promote Goa’s rich fish culture, the fishing industry and to create awareness on the underwater world.
“The festival will provide a common platform for stakeholders to come together to build a strong economy in the fisheries sector and to form a win-win bond between the traditional fishing industry and a technology driven industry, which will benefit the fishing community in general,” the Minister said.
Various issues, including advantages and disadvantages pertaining to the fisheries sector, will be discussed. The event will highlight aquarium fish gallery, commercial stalls, live fish pond competitions and contest for children, along with seminars and workshops promoting fishing sector as one of the career driven sector.
