PANJIM: The South Goa District Level Coordination Committee for Tobacco Control was surprised at the level of apathy from the district administration regarding small beaches.
The Collector has directed the Tourism Department to make sure signboards are erected on all beaches. The meeting has decided to observe in a very effective way, the upcoming ‘World No Tobacco Day’, on May 31.
The meeting has decided to have signboards of tobacco prevention not just on big beaches but on the smaller beaches as well. The issue came up at the meeting and the gathering realised that the district administration had shown no interest in erecting signages preventing tobacco use on smaller beaches.
