MARGAO: As all avenues for the dialysis unit in-charge doctor are exhausted, he has now decided to approach to the High Court along with the patients taking dialysis at his unit. On Thursday the electricity department sealed the power panel from where the doctor took temporary power supply to run his dialysis machines. He was also disallowed to get a generator inside.
Drama begun early morning at the dilapidated and now burnt second floor of the Hospicio building after Dr Venkatesh Reddy, in-charge of the dialysis unit attempted to go on with his dialysis. He had earlier taken power from the source on his floor which was cut forcing him to get a generator which was stopped by the police. The doctor on Thursday again attempted to bring a generator which he claimed to has been lent by a priest of a church. However he was stopped by the guards from doing that.
Dr Venkatesh Reddy said, “There are patients who need dialysis here and I have been disallowed to do so.”
“I will be approaching the High Court for restoration of electricity and meanwhile, I will give dialysis to them. I will take the patients along to court and file their say,” he said.
Meanwhile, a patient revealed that they were charged heftily a couple of months ago when they had attempted to get dialysis at Navelim Health center forcing them to come to this dialysis unit at Hospicio.
Aquem Baixo Sarpanch Siddhesh Bhagat who was with a patient said, “I know there might be some conflicts between the Department and the doctor concerned, but why patient are made to suffer because of this? If that clinic is illegal, seal it completely and give our patients a suitable alternative. They are lying in front of the machine for past so many hours with a hope that power will be restored and they will be treated.”
“I request our Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane who is really working for betterment to call up the medical superintendent and tell her to shift the patient’s somewhere closeby government health center for the same,” he pleaded.
