MARGAO: Authorities finally began the hot mixing of the road from Manora to Kirbhat on Friday, which had become a hazard for commuters, resulting in multiple accidents.

The work started in the presence of Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, local leader Anthony Barbosa, and others. MLA Lourenco, who had promised to ensure the road’s quality, assured that he would oversee the process closely.
The road conditions had been deplorable, leading to several accidents in the past, with locals urging the authorities to address the issue.
Speaking to reporters, Lourenco expressed his concern for the public. “Yes, there was a delay in starting the repairs, but I personally monitored the files to ensure all necessary approvals were obtained and that good-quality tar is used for the hot mixing,” he said.
He explained that previous repairs failed because substandard tar had been used, causing roads to wash away quickly.
“A small stretch of 6 meters will be left out from the hot mixing due to ongoing water pipeline work at Manora. Many may have criticized me regarding the road, but I want to make it clear that quality matters to me, and everything must be done properly,” said the MLA.
