PANJIM: Goa is tapping into the power of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to introduce innovative technologies, including AI-powered X-ray screening and Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAAT), to accelerate the early detection and elimination of Tuberculosis (TB), Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announced on Sunday.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Rane highlighted the state’s active participation in the national “100 Days for TB Elimination” campaign, a comprehensive effort led by Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda.
Rane said, “In a pivotal virtual meeting with Chief Ministers, MLAs, and Council members from across states, Naddaji emphasized the importance of multi-level engagement—from state legislatures to Panchayati Raj Institutions—to maximize the campaign’s reach and impact. At the state level, Goa is leading the way by leveraging PPPs to implement advanced technologies, including AI-powered X-ray screenings and NAAT machines for early TB detection.”
The Health Minister also emphasized Goa’s targeted campaigns in high-risk areas, collaboration with local influencers, and the active involvement of residents through the #NikshayMitra initiative. “With these efforts, Goa is positioning itself as a model state in the fight against TB,” Rane added.
The #NikshayMitra initiative connects TB patients with donors who provide monthly nutrition kits until the completion of treatment, aiming to support patients in their recovery.
Rane also proposed integrating the Department of Women and Child Development (WCD) with Health Services, particularly through the engagement of Anganwadi workers at the grassroots level, to further strengthen the state’s TB control efforts.
