PANJIM: A summer football camp organised by Devkikrishna Sports Club, Marcel in association with Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) Marcel Centre and Brahmeshwar Yuvak Sangh Akhada, held at Akhada ground.
The camp was free of cost and was held for first time. It kicked off on May 5 and ended on May 21. It was held for children between the age group of 6 to 14 years during the evening time.
The camp was organised to encourage youth in taking to the state game at grassroots level and engage them in their vacations. It witnessed the participation of around 55 children from in and around that area.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the camp the Chairman of GFDC and chief guest, Dr. Rufino Monteiro stated that he was happy that children are coming out and playing a game. “This camp was conducted smoothly and it was nice to see large number of kids attend this camp. I would like those who participated in this camp to continue with regular round the year training by registering with the Marcel centre as children who play will imbibe discipline and good health,” he said.
The other guests for the valedictory function were Surendra Volvoikar, panch member St. Estevam village panchayat; Eshwar Kubal, Headmaster of Saraswati HS Juve; Tulsidas Sawant, President of Brahmeshwar Yuvak Sangh Akhada and other dignitaries.
