MARGAO: Fr Agnel Boys, Cuncolim overcame Pattem Boys 1-0 to emerge champions in 3rd all-Goa 7-a-side football tournament, organized by Royal Boys of Pattem, Balli at Pattem ground, recently.
The teams displayed attacking brand of soccer and kept the crowds on their toes. They had equal number of scoring chances but muffed from ideal positions.
Post resumption, Fr Agnel Boys put up a vast improved display and troubles the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. Treyson D’ Costa struck the match-winner late in the second half.
Pattem boys tried their best but failed to get the equalizer.
Fr Agnel Boys were richer by Rs 10,000 while Pattem Boys bagged Rs 8,000. In all 18 team participated.
Prashant Naik, social worker was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour Peter Fernandes, businessman. Pedru Fernandes ex-footballer from Balli was felicitated.
