IMD issues yellow alert on eve ofGanesh Chaturthi

PANJIM: As the State is all set to usher into Ganesh Chaturthi festivities tomorrow, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a yellow alert for September 6 w forecasting of heavy rainfall at isolated places over North and South Goa districts.

“Heavy rainfall with winds gusting to 30-40 kmph is very likely at isolated places over North and South Goa districts on September 6,” the IMD said.

Meanwhile, between a period of 8.30 am of Sept 4 and 8.30 am of Sept 5, Sanguem received the highest amount of 0.5 inches of rainfall, followed by Pernem 0.4 inches, Valpoi 0.3 inches and Sanquelim 0.1 inch.
