PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Monday directed the State government to put in place grievance redressal mechanism related to the work of six-lane elevated corridor which is currently underway at Porvorim.

The order came after the petitioner Moses Pinto brought to the notice of the Court that the contractors had failed to curb the pollution besides improper barricading along this stretch. The High Court has asked the PWD executive engineer Jude Carvalho to remain present in the Court on Tuesday in view of non-compliance of earlier order and to enable the Court to pass appropriate orders for effective compliance of the directions and safety of the road users.
In November last year, the High Court had directed the contractor and concerned government departments to take adequate safety measures while constructing the six-lane elevated corridor at Porvorim and traffic diversion.
During the site inspection, the contractor was been told to black top the entire diverted road on priority while, the North Goa Collector was asked to remove the major hurdles caused by illegal construction, to avoid traffic congestion.
