MARGAO: The Electricity Department has denied any responsibility for the recent tragic electrocution of Aniket Naik from Rumdamol, Davorlim, who died during preparations for the Shree Datta Mandir festival.
Superintending Engineer (SE) Rajiv Samant, Electrical Circle-I, Power House-Margao, told reporters that the department had no power supply to the location where the incident occurred. He stated that while there are low-tension wires in the vicinity, they are situated far from the site of the accident. Additionally, he confirmed the absence of high-tension lines in the area.
Aniket had been part of a group of youth decorating the temple premises when the fatal incident occurred. Following the tragedy, Samant, accompanied by the Executive Engineer (EE) and Junior Engineer (JE), conducted an on-site inspection on Friday.
During their investigation, the team observed that the temple had two fans and tube lights powered by an unknown electrical connection. They discovered one exposed wire but could not ascertain the source of the power line.
