PANJIM: The State government on Wednesday told the High Court of Bombay at Goa that 11 road stretches in Panjim would be repaired within the next 15 days.

The High Court was hearing two public interest litigation (PIL) writ petitions regarding Smart City works in the capital city. Adv Shivan Desai, appearing for the petitioners, had produced a list of poor quality road works with photographs which needed urgent repairs.
Advocate General Devidas Pangam said that out of 11 stretches, the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) will carry out the repair works of eight road stretches by fitting rubber soling and make it motorable within next 15 days. However in one of these stretches, the IPSCDL will undertake concrete dye work from St Inez junction up to Caculo Mall as per the High Court directives.
In a clear example of passing the buck, Smart City officials claimed that of the three roads from St Inez junction to Campal Trade Centre, from All India Radio (AIR) to Joggers Park and from Azad Maidan to Goa Police headquarters, the Azad Main to Police headquarters was completed but the road was dug by (CCP) for laying cross drainages. The other two road stretches will also be repaired by the CCP.
He said that the High Court has also asked the IPSCDL to submit the list of contractors during the next hearing.
The Court has also asked the CCP to reply on Friday, August 30, about the three road stretches, where it has to carry out repair works.
