PANJIM: Goods worth around Rs 25 lakh were gutted in a fire which engulfed Yash Shooting Hub, a shooting academy at Mandrem, on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters, Sanjit Pradekar, a staff at the academy said, “We have suffered a loss of around Rs 25 lakh. Guns, laptops and server have been gutted in the fire.”
According to locals, the fire caught at around 5 in the morning however, reason behind the fire is not known yet. Upon hearing about the fire, owner of the academy, Yogesh Parluskar, called fire station, following which the Fire and Emergency Services personnel from Pernem Fire Station rushed to the spot and put out the fire.
Speaking to O Heraldo, Station Fire Officer, Officer- in-charge Fire Station Pernem Namdev Parwar said, “We received a call at around 5.10 am. Immediately a team of six personnel led by Sub Officer Sunil N Desai rushed to the spot. The fire was extinguished by 7 pm but the exact amount of loss has not been ascertained. Reason for the fire is also not known.”
