MARGAO: Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar called for unity among the tribal communities and emphasised the importance of preserving Goa’s cultural and rural traditions.
Addressing a ceremony held to commemorate the birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, Tawadkar urged the tribal community to work together to safeguard their heritage, highlighting the crucial role that preserving rural traditions plays in protecting the broader cultural identity of Goa.
He also appealed for greater awareness of Birsa Munda’s contributions to the tribal community, stressing the importance of recognising and honouring his legacy.
Series of events are being organised to serve as a reminder of the need for collective action in maintaining and celebrating the unique cultural aspects of the tribal communities, while also ensuring their place in Goa’s evolving social fabric. Former minister Chandrakant alias Babu Kavalekar, Dr Sneha Bhagwat, Anthony Barbosa, Camilo Barretto and others were present.
