A shocking murder in Baina has left the local community stunned after 64-year-old Mahirunissa was brutally stabbed to death inside her residence at Nayak Building on Sunday afternoon. The crime took place in her third-floor flat, where she was reportedly alone at the time of the attack. According to the victim’s son, the accused—described as a known alcoholic in the locality—allegedly entered the flat and attacked her with a knife, inflicting fatal injuries. Neighbours were alerted after hearing commotion, but by the time help arrived, the elderly woman had already succumbed to her wounds.
Police officials reached the spot soon after being informed and immediately launched an investigation. The accused, who attempted to flee, was apprehended in connection with the case and is currently in custody. Sources revealed that the assailant was familiar to the family, leading investigators to focus on possible personal disputes or other underlying causes that may have triggered the attack.
