In a shocking case of alleged deception, a police inspector was arrested on Wednesday for reportedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a woman sub-inspector under the promise of marriage.
The accused, Yoshobant Acharya, a native of Kandhamal district, was taken into custody by the Mahila Police following a complaint lodged by the victim on Tuesday.

According to police sources, Acharya allegedly convinced the woman officer into a physical relationship by promising to marry her, only to later marry someone else.
Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena confirmed the arrest, stating, “We have arrested the police inspector (armed) and registered a case under Section 69 of BNS, pertaining to sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means, and forwarded him to court.”
The case has sent ripples through the local police community, highlighting the serious consequences of abuse of power within the force.
