MARGAO: Plans for the construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Sarzora on the Konkan Railway line have moved a step forward, with officials deciding to conduct a joint site inspec tion before taking a final call on the project’s execu tion. The proposed bridge aims to ease traffic con gestion and enhance safety at Level Crossing No. 49, which currently experienc es heavy vehicular move ment. A review meeting regard ing the project was held at the Mathani-Saldanha Administrative Complex, under the chairmanship of South Goa Additional Col lector Vishal Kundaikar. The session was convened to assess the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed overbridge and to gather inputs from various depart ments. During the meeting, offi cials from Konkan Railway presented a PowerPoint presentation detailing the design, alignment, and structural features of the proposed bridge. The pres entation also highlighted key technical aspects, in cluding the layout of the ap proach roads and the likely impact on existing public utilities such as electricity and drainage lines. Officials from the Elec tricity Department and other relevant agencies were invited to share their observations and recom mendations. After deliber ations, it was decided that a joint inspection and ver ification would be carried out at the site to identify practical challenges, assess ground realities, and deter mine necessary infrastruc tural adjustments. The Electricity Depart ment emphasised that an on-site assessment would help in understanding the exact requirements and enable prompt coordina tion among the concerned agencies. The meeting concluded with a resolution that fur ther decisions regarding the project’s implementa tion and technical specifi cations will be taken only after the completion of the joint site inspection. The authorities expect that the collaborative review will help streamline the plan ning process and ensure that all potential issues are addressed before final ap proval. The proposed Sarzora Road Over Bridge, once completed, is expected to provide significant relief to local commuters by elimi nating delays at the railway crossing and reducing the risk of accidents, thereby improving overall traffic safety and connectivity in the region
